Winner of both First Prize and the Audience Prize at the 2009 Handel Singing Competition, Ruby Hughes was a BBC New Generation Artist between 2011 and 2013 and studied at the Royal College of Music, making her debut at the Theater an der Wien.
She has worked with Buxton Festival Opera, Classical Opera, English National Opera,Garsington Opera and Scottish Opera, and in concert with major conductors and orchestras throughout the UK and Europe. During 2013 she made debuts at both the BBC Proms and the Wigmore Hall.
Recent broadcasts include music by Berg, Britten, Chausson, Mahler, Mozart, Schubert, Schumann and Sibelius, and her recordings include Wie freudig ist mein Herz (Fra Bernardo), Messiah (ORF) and Montsalvatge Sinfonia da Requiem (Chandos).
